If you love cakes you will love this guy. Please meet today, Stuart the Cakeyboi!
Hi all, I’m Stuart Vettese, aka Cakeyboi. I live in a small town called Arbroath on the east coast of Scotland. And I am a quarter Italian. By day I work in an office and in my spare time I love to bake.
I joined my local Clandestine Cake Club in April 2012. For those of you who haven’t heard of the Clandestine Cake Club, it’s a meeting of cake makers who are given a theme. They then make a cake for a certain date and are given a venue to go to at last minute – hence the ‘clandestine’ part!
After meeting fellow cake lovers there, and a couple of bloggers, I was inspired to start writing about my own baking adventures.
I work on my blog at night and mostly weekends when I have a chance. As I my main job is Monday to Friday 9 to 5, it can be challenging finding time to bake, photograph and write. But I do find the time.
My blog started out with a little carton character called Cakeyboi and some cartoon based cake jokes. But inspiration eventually ran out and I dedicated the blog to my baking, reviews and other experiences along the way. The cartoons can still be found lurking on the site however.
Now I love to try unusual, or not quite so common, bakes to my readers. Some of my bakes are American in style but tweaked for readers all over the world!
Last year I was approached by the BBC to join their BBC Good Food Show Blogger’s Community. Through this I got to interview celebrity chefs and get VIP access to the event. Since starting the blog, I have also been interviewed myself on radio, in local press and had my recipes featured in magazines.
My blog has just turned two and I would like to keep on doing what I am doing, for now. One day I would like to dedicate more time to it but for now, it has to be a hobby.
Starting my blog has led to so many things, that I would not have thought possible a couple of years ago!
